A year ago today, I left my international corporate career  and went home to refocus on 4F\u2019s:  faith, family, friendships and fitness.<\/em>  Everything continues to be work in progress (especially the fitness bit)<\/em> but each passing day affirms that not working full time is my new path.  All that said, I could not help but reminisce\u2026 it was my life after all for almost 30 years.  So in the spirit of celebrating my Non-Labor Day\u2026. Welcome to the ultimate midlife guessing game!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rules are simple: I\u2019ll give you a phrase and you guess whether (A) I said it during my corporate career during an absurd business meeting,  OR  (B) I said it because I was having a menopause moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ready? Let\u2019s play!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

1. \u201cI don\u2019t have the time nor patience for this.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) The meeting could have been an email, but here we are.
B) Former colleague asking, \u201cYou don\u2019t seem to be your usual articulate self?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> Both. Always both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, what are we talking about?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) A PowerPoint presentation so dull, your brain auto-exited the meeting.
B) Brain fog just stole your entire train of thought mid-sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If you\u2019re nodding like you understand but have no clue what\u2019s happening, it\u2019s definitely corporate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. \u201cIs this going somewhere, or is this how you make your point?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) Someone is explaining a simple concept in the most complicated way possible.
B) You\u2019ve been awake since 3 AM, waiting for your body to decide if it wants to sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If there\u2019s pointless rambling involved, it\u2019s corporate. If there\u2019s pointless suffering<\/em> involved, it\u2019s menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. \u201cIs it hot in here or is it just me?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) A brainstorming session involving Post-Its just got heated.
B) Eating out in a restaurant where your table is beside the AC at full blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If you said it to diffuse the tension, it\u2019s corporate.  If the rest of your party are wearing layers, it\u2019s you.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. \u201cLet\u2019s just agree to disagree.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) A passive-aggressive way to end a circular discussion.
B) The only way to keep friendships intact when hormones turn you into a truth bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If someone says \u201csynergy\u201d right after, it\u2019s corporate. If someone suggests you \u201cjust chill,\u201d it\u2019s menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If there\u2019s finger pointing involved, it\u2019s corporate. If there\u2019s begging involved, it\u2019s menopause (or more likely, still corporate). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. \u201cI\u2019m going to need caffeine to get through this.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) The pre-business plan meeting survival strategy.
B) The post-workout-to- manage -the- joint- pain recovery plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If it\u2019s before noon, it\u2019s corporate. If it\u2019s after noon, always corporate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. \u201cIf it\u2019s not urgent, I\u2019m ignoring it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) Too many emails, too little time.
B) Too many symptoms, too little patience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If it\u2019s a Teams notification, it\u2019s corporate. If it\u2019s unsolicited menopause advice, it\u2019s ignored on principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. \u201cI\u2019m not angry but I am disappointed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) Your feedback is direct, and now everyone is uncomfortable.
B) Your estrogen levels just plummeted, and now you\u2019re<\/em> uncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If you feel like flipping a table but don\u2019t, it\u2019s corporate. If you actually flip the table (mentally or physically), it\u2019s menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. \u201cI need to step away before I say something I regret.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A) The meeting is dragging, and you\u2019re dangerously close to saying what you really<\/em> think.
B) Someone just suggested that when it comes to menopause, \u201cYou should just grin and bear it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong> If there\u2019s a risk of violating HR policy, it\u2019s corporate. If there\u2019s a risk of committing a felony, it\u2019s menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
